When link building, now that google can understand some javascript, how are the various A HREF onclick javascript approaches handled by google? This issue is increasingly important to understand since more and more directories, common places for link building, are now employing different onclick javascript URLs to the HREF URL (e.g. hotfrog), so a directory which provides what appears to be a direct inbound link, may not be so useful as one might think.

Do search engines treat straight URLs in links as anchor text, and if so does this help with domains that have keywords in them?
